Aloha and Welcome to the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunrise!

Do you believe in MAGIC? The 2024-2025 International Rotary theme is “The Magic of Rotary”. Whether it is doing community service, making new friends, or being in a room of like-minded people, Rotary might be the right place for you.

A few projects that we have planned for the year are continuing with our vocational sponsorship program, which replaces professionals’ tools lost in the fire; running a school supply drive; handing out holiday decorative sprays to families at Snow Zone; and offering a scholarship to a high school student. Sprinkling magic in our community makes our hearts full.

We invite you to join us on Tuesday mornings at the Royal Kahana. The last meeting of each month will be focused on the magic of our members and our club. This meeting will be more relaxed, maybe even so relaxed it shifts to a weekend gathering. Please keep an eye out on our calendar!

2024 See's Candies Fundraiser

Who's ready for See's Candies holiday favorites?!?

This year Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunrise is trying a new annual fundraiser (sorry, no Christmas trees yet) BUT there will be chocolate!!!

If you want to replace tools of professionals lost in the fire, provide scholarships to high school students, support youth leadership, give dictionaries to third graders, and more for our Lahaina community, now is the time to buy some See’s Candies!

Treat yourself to the yummiest candy on earth, pick up some fantastic holiday gifts AND support our annual Lahaina Sunrise Rotary fundraiser at the same time! It’s a WIN-WIN all around!

We have two ways you can support RCLS & purchase candy.

1. SHOP IN PERSON: Candy will be available for purchase and pick-up at the Lahaina Cannery Mall November 29th-December 1st and December 6th-8th. We will be there from 10am-6pm each day.

2024/2025 Vocational Sponsorships Due Dec 13, 2024

Our first 8 rounds of Vocational Sponsorships were such a success that we are doing a 9th round! If you were thinking about applying or missed our previous deadlines, please get us your application by December 13, 2024.

We are supporting vocational tradespeople directly affected by the Lahaina/Upcountry Maui Fires. Our intention is to assist in the replacement of tools and/or devices essential to one’s vocation or trade that were lost or damaged beyond repair in the fires. These items would be considered necessary to perform one’s trade and one would not be able to continue within their profession without replacement of these specific items. Examples of such vocations include but are not limited to: Electricians, Plumbers, General Construction, Hair Stylists, Pet Groomers, Artists, Automobile Repair Technicians, Technology Specialists, Massage Therapists, Agricultural Workers, and Landscapers. The Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunrise (RCLS) reserves the right to approve the sponsorship of any vocation. **Please note that the tools must have been lost in the August 2023 fire.**

We have 15(Fifteen) Vocational Sponsorships up to the value of $750.00 each to replace essential items. Upon approval from RCLS, recipients of this vocational sponsorship program will be notified that they will receive the tools and/or supplies as requested. All items will be purchased & delivered by members of the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunrise. Applicants will not be reimbursed for items already purchased and no requests for items will be accepted over $750.00 (including tax and shipping). The first qualified 15 applicants will receive sponsorships.

Applications must be received to our email RotaryClubofLahainaSunrise@gmail.com to arrive no later than midnight December 13, 2024.

Maui Fire Relief Fund

From Hawai'i Rotary District Governor Mark Merriam:

August 9, 2023 was a tragic day for our Rotarians, families and friends on the Island of Maui. The fires across the island have changed lives forever. Truly devastating. Our sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with everyone impacted.

As people of action, we can take immediate action. As we come together to recover and rebuild, we need to support each other. We need to Create Hope for Maui.

Through our Rotary District 5000 Foundation, a relief fund has been established. Foundation President Dave Hamil and Treasurer Sharon Amano will handle all donations. A committee will be organized shortly to find the greatest needs for distribution of monies. A single fund will be the most helpful over time to provide the most significant benefits.

Mahalo to the Rotary Club of Waikiki for collecting monies at their lunch meeting today. These are the first contributions to the fund.
